Mississauga Man Arrested in $1 Million Home Renovation Scam
A Mississauga man was charged in connection to a $1 million contract scam that took place over the span of two years.
Multiple fraud reports were examined and a full investigation was conducted by members of the Peel Regional Police Fraud Bureau after they received complaints of fraudulent activity.
The suspect has allegedly been offering home contractor services to clients in cities throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Police say that the suspect accepted the clients’ money, but never actually created any work.
Milentje Djordjevic, 58, was charged to four counts of fraud over $500,000 in connection with a scam.
Police say that investigators believe there may be other victims involved in this case that have not yet come forward.
There have been incidents of people paying for products and services on a pre-payment basis, only to never receive anything. Peel Regional Police are urging everyone to take the time to check references and avoid paying in advance, unless they feel confident in the unknown person or company.
