An employee of a Winnipeg roofing company suffered internal injuries, rib fractures, and a spinal fracture after falling about six metres.
According to Manitoba Labour, Consumer Protection and Government Services, the worker was removing debris from a roof on March 30, 2020, near where guardrails had been removed.
According to the release, the worker fell off the edge and struck a smaller roof portion before hitting the ground.
The company was charged with violating the Workplace Safety and Health Act following an investigation.
On Dec. 12, 2022, Norwin pleaded guilty to failing to ensure a worker used a fall protection system while working at heights without a guardrail.
